Xiphiagrion cyanomelas

Does Odonata stand on water? The answer from AI Overview says no. However, I had an overwhelming observation on Xiphiagrion cyanomelas at Paya Maga (ca. 1650 m a.s.l.), Sarawak in 2010. I spotted many males of Xiphiagrion cyanomelas standing on water at water pools or small ponds in Paya Maga. Their legs were basically on the water, and sometime with their tail end was also touching the surface of water. When wind blew across the water pools, they drifted smoothly across the water surface.

Survey of Odonata at Precinct 2, Kajang 2

There is a nice resident park at Precinct 2, Bandar Kajang 2, Kajang. The park has a nice pond well management by the developer of township of Precinct 2 Kajang 2. A jogging track is constructed aroung the pond. Apart from that, some exercise devices are also seen at one spot at the park. I did a quick Odonata survey at the pond on 2 September 2025 in the late morning. A total of nine species of Odonata were recorded - one was damselflies and eight were dragonflies. They were just very common pond species.
