Dragonflies and damselflies (Odonata) are a group of aesthetic aquatic insects. Over 420 species of Odonata have been recorded for Malaysia (Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak). They are waiting for me to explore.

Rhodothemis rufa - Unsuccessful Larval Emergence
I spotted this dead dragonfly at a retention pond of a residential area in Kajang. This dead dragonfly is of an unsuccessful larval emergence. It looks like the larval emergence took place at least 2 days ago. Close inspection of the dead dragonfly reveals that it is a male individual of Rhodothemis rufa.
